APU Students Win First Place and Best Speaker Award at National Competition
Semarang – Students from Agung Putra University (APU) have once again earned an outstanding achievement at the national level.
Three students from APU's Management Study Program, Vika Nurdiyana, Surya Dzaka Prayoga, and R. Nur Ali Yahya, won first place as well as the Best Speaker award at the Megamic Business Plan Competition (MBPC) 2026. The competition's Grand Final was held at Universitas Islam Sultan Agung in Semarang on Tuesday, July 21, 2026.
MBPC is a national business planning competition for university students. It provides a platform for participants to present innovative business ideas and develop their entrepreneurial skills.
At the competition, the APU student team presented its award-winning business proposal, "A Sustainable Circular Business Model for Premium Bioenergy from Spent Coffee Grounds and Durian Albedo," for the Eco Brew Briquette product, based on research conducted at the SCCR Indonesia Laboratory.
This business innovation applies a circular economy model by transforming spent coffee grounds and durian albedo into premium bioenergy briquettes. The value-added product offers an environmentally friendly fuel solution with a high calorific value, minimal smoke, and a longer burn time.
By using waste as its primary raw material, Eco Brew Briquette not only creates a market-competitive commodity but also delivers a positive economic impact while reducing environmental pollution.
APU Vice Rector III for Student Affairs, Global Employability & Entrepreneurship, Dr. Suharto Abdul Majid, A.M.Tr.U., S.S.Tr., S.Sos., M.M., said the achievement was a great source of pride for APU, which consistently places entrepreneurship and leadership at the heart of its curriculum.
"This student achievement is a tremendous source of pride for us at APU. It motivates us to continue supporting our students as they pursue further accomplishments in the future," he said.
Echoing this sentiment, President of APU Foundation Prof. Dr. dr. Agung Putra, M.Si.Med., emphasized that this national-level victory demonstrates the success of the entrepreneurial ecosystem developed by APU.
"APU is committed not only to producing graduates with academic excellence, but also to fostering a strong entrepreneurial spirit. Through this victory at MBPC 2026, we hope this business plan can be put into practice, ensuring that APU graduates are truly prepared and well equipped to face the challenges of industry. This aligns with our mission of Empowering Future Through Green Innovation, Technology, and Reconstructing Life by Biomedical Science," Prof. Agung said.
